Number of years in practice: I have been practicing optometry for 5 years, and I have had my current practice for one year. I was born and raised in Hawaii, and recently moved back after completing undergraduate and optometry school on the mainland.
About the office: My independent optometric practice is located within the Wal-Mart in Pearl City. I offer a wide range of eye care services including comprehensive eye health assessment, color and clear contact lens fitting, and the screening and management of glaucoma and other sight threatening conditions such as macular degeneration, cataracts, and diabetic and hypertensive retinopathy. I also provide treatment and management of eye infections, abrasions and foreign bodies. My services are tailored to suit the uniqueness and complexity of each patient’s individual needs.
What you like about the practice/office: I enjoy caring for and getting to know people of varying backgrounds: local residents, military service members and their families, visitors to the islands, retirees, school children, infants, etc. I enjoy hearing my patients’ stories about plans for a baby luau or a spouse's long awaited return from a deployment. It means so much to me that I can help them during these special times whether it be by fitting them with contact lenses so that they can clearly see the smile on their loved one's face, or by treating their eye infection so they can go back to enjoying life. I believe in treating my patients like family, and it is always very special when patients trust me enough to refer their friends and family to my office.
My staff and I work very hard to create a warm and welcoming environment in my office, and I believe it shows. Patients often comment on the competency and friendliness of my staff. I have been truly blessed to have the opportunity to work with such wonderful people. It really makes me enjoy my job that much more!
