Ophthalmology
Dr. Higa is trained as an ophthalmologist, or eye doctor. Dr. Higa also trained in two sub–specialties: oculoplastic surgery and corneal and refractive surgery.
As an oculoplastic surgeon, Dr. Higa specializes in surgical procedures that improve vision. Sometimes, as in the case of droopy eyelids, the correction of sagging eyelid tissue improves vision, as well as appearance.
He is also a corneal specialist, skilled in performing natural donor cornea transplants, artificial lens implant insertion, and treatment of conditions such as Keratoconus, Fuchs and Bullous diseases, and Diabetic Retinopathy. (below: Dr. Higa & patient eye exam)
